Plainfield Board approves purchase of lawnmower

The Plainfield Village Board approved the purchase of a new 72” Gravely Lawnmower for $11,900 from Plainfield True Value for the village maintenance department with a 4-2 vote during their regular monthly board meeting on July 11.

The two mowers the village currently owns have both been in need of several repairs so far this year and mowing has been delayed due to the repairs.

Village of Plainfield Superintendent JD Zouski looked at other lawnmowers, but they all would cost the village more money and would need to be taken out of town for any necessary repairs. With the purchase of the 72” Gravely, Plainfield True Value would handle all warranties and repairs. The store said it would grant a $1,000 discount for the municipality, dropping the cost from $12,900 to $11,900.

Board member Cathy Jo Boyd was happy with the decision, stating she would like to see the village stay local for the purchase Members of the board went on to approve several agenda items, including: a water tower inspection by Lane Tank Company for $950; a fence permit for Kim Waugus at 503 N. Snowmobile Run; and an operator’s license for Elizabeth Nigh for Royal Market.

Temporary beer licenses were approved for Firemen’s Jamboree for July 21-23; Wysocki Family of Companies Company Summer Picnic; and St. Paul Parish Festival for Aug. 5-6.
