Local churches plan Blue Christmas for Dec. 20

Pastors Barb Girod of Holden Lutheran Parish, Pam Priewe of Wild Rose United Methodist and Hancock UCC Churches, and Alyson Janke of Wild Rose Presbyterian Church met to plan the Blue Christmas Service which will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Holly Funeral Home, 630 County Road G & H, Wild Rose. “Blue Christmas” (sometimes called “Longest Night”) is a special service geared to those who find it hard to feel festive during the Christmas Season because of they are missing a loved one, or are divorced, unemployed, lonely or facing other stresses. “Blue Christmas” offers a safe and welcoming place to focus on the message of Christmas with readings and prayers, carols, instrumental music, lighting of candles, and periods of silence. The community is invited to “Blue Christmas” on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 5 pm at Holly Funeral Home, Wild Rose.
