Wild Rose hosts CESA 5 Regional Spelling Bee

The Wild Rose School District played host to a regional spelling bee in Region 2 for the CESA 5 district on Feb. 7.

The competition involved 17 middle school students representing the school districts of Almond-Bancroft, St. Paul Lutheran, Tri-County, Tomorrow River, Waupaca, Wautoma and Wild Rose. Six rounds of actually spelling words out and two rounds of vocabulary words had taken place before two students were left in the competition.

The ninth round began with Sydney Hottenstein of Wild Rose correctly spelling her word. Orion Kunst of Almond-Bancroft incorrectly spelled the word “condolences” with one of the vowels. Hottenstein spelled “condolences” correctly and then went on to spell salami correctly to become the regional champions on the 10th round word.
