Westfield students to compete at WSMA State Solo & Ensemble

Following their performances at the South Central Conference Solo & Ensemble Competition at Westfield Area High School on Feb. 24, members of the Westfield Band and Choir advanced to the State Festival at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to be held on April 28.

To qualify for the State Solo & Ensemble, students are evaluated by the adjudicators on a strict rubric and must receive a 1* rating in a Class A, or advanced, event.

The band soloists who advanced to the state contest were: Kaytlan Huff, flute solo; Olivia Driscoll, flute solo; Anna Guenzel, flute solo; Carolyn Czerwinski, flute solo; Elsbeth Hamilton, clarinet solo; Michelle Bloede, tenor sax solo; and Mirra Vogel, trumpet solo.

The band ensembles advancing to State included, a trumpet trio consisting of Conner Robinson, Mirra Vogel and Zane Baker as well as the Woodwind, Trombone and Saxophone Choirs.

The members of the Woodwind Choir included: Kaytlan Huff, Olivia Driscoll, Merissa Roberts, Jade Morris, Anna Guenzel, Sam Grayless, Elsbeth Hamilton, Kayla Anagnostopolous, Olivia Schroeder, Mikayla Flyte, Orion watry, Caitlin Albright, Jaylyn Rachel, Morgan Vetrone, Taylor Bignell, Tayha Reetz, Kayla Fenner, Breana Lentz, Abbey Weishaar, Jameson Abbott, Michelle Bloede, Taylor Ellis, Allen Ely and Noah Sackett.

The Trombone Choir consisted of: Kali Gardner, Chelsea Huff, Matt Kittelson, Darren Leibsle, Matt Peschel, Liz Smith, Camden Stampfl, Cyrus Young-Mcleod and Kaden Young-Mcleod.

The Saxophone Choir included the following students: Taylor Bignell, Kayla Fenner, Breana Lentz, Abbey Weishaar, Jameson Abbott, Michelle Bloede, Taylor Ellis, Tayha Reetz, Allen Ely Noah Sackett and Kaytlan Huff.

Seventeen Choir students also advanced to the State Solo & Ensemble competition in solos as well as ensembles.

The soloists advancing included: Treyven Zinke, Kaytlan Huff, Savanna Reichhoff and Nate Winkler. A duet consisting of Kaytlan Huff and Savanna Reichhoff also advanced for their duet and trio with Mirra Vogel.

Finally, the Men’s Ensemble also qualified and included: Logan Baumann, Brady Mazzuca, Soslan Temanson, Mason Rudolph, Sam Blazich, Alex Meiller, Dan Petersen, Treyven Zinke, cyrus Young-McLeod, Joshua Koloske, Nate Winkler, Zach Wacholtz, Jayce Graveline and Noah Sackett.
