Wautoma School Board hires six teachers

The Wautoma Areas School Board approved the hir-ing of six teachers during their regular meeting on June 12 at the Wautoma Area School District Office. The teachers approved by the board will begin this fall at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

The new teachers approved by the board included: Debra Klinger, early childhood specialist teacher; Arthur Barribeau, middle school STEM teacher; Mariah Moe, elementary teacher; Nicole Thorne, 5-year-old kindergarten teacher; Pamela Topel, elementary teacher; and Benjamin Thompson, high school mathematics/physics teacher.

The board went on to approve the 2017-18 school year lunch prices, which comes with a $0.25 increase for Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd grade lunches. This $0.25 increase will bring the price per meal for only Pre-K through 3rd graders to $2.50, while the 4th through 8th grade price remaining at $2.75 and 9th through 12th grade lunches staying at $3.25.

Staff members from each of the schools presented their students of the month to the board, including Evher Hernandez, Redgranite Elementary; Lesli Flores, Riverview Elementary; Kayli Bagley, Parkside Middle School; and Jordan Reilly, Wautoma High School.
