Tri-County School Board holds annual meeting Aug. 25

The Tri-County Area School District Administrator Anthony Marinack reported to the 15 attendees that the district recorded revenues were approximately $74,000 over the expenses at the end of the 2014-15 during the annual budget meeting held Aug. 25 in the Tri-County High School Lecture Hall.

Marinack stated the surplus was roughly the same amount as the school had spent previously on a small school bus. He added that the bus would not be at the school until November as Ford is behind on the chassis, with the district leasing a bus until the new one arrives.

During the meeting, Jim Cesar nominated Jim Miller as chairperson, which was seconded by Wayne Cummings and unanimously approved.

It reported that the district will begin the year with a deficit, stating the roof over the west side of the middle school needed repairs costing the district $14,000. Although the 2015-16 will begin in the red, the district is looking to be about even by the end of the school year. The Fund 80 budget and areas were also discussed, including the police liaison officer program operations.
