Flyte takes first at speaking contest

Coloma Elementary 6th grader Taylor Flyte (left) won the Coloma and Westfield Elementary School’s annual Environmental Speaking Contest (Elementary Division), on Monday, Feb. 6. Also taking home top honors from Coloma Elementary were Westfield’s Samantha Stolpa, second place, (not pictured), and Tanner Popp (right) who won third place. The contest, which helps to promote the conservation of our natural resources, gives young students an opportunity to research environmental issues, explore conservation careers and build confidence is sponsored by the Marquette County Land & Water Conservation Department. Flyte will go on to compete at the area level contest, which will be held in Waupaca, and the winners of that contest will advance to the state competition in Elkhart Lake at the Osthoff Resort.
