STEAM Classes to be held in Leon-Saxeville this April

For four Mondays in April the Leon-Saxeville Library in Pine River along with the Waushara County University of Wisconsin-Extension Office is offering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Classes at 5 p.m. The projects created through the STEAM classes will encourage children to learn by doing while using a variety of materials instead of just reading or listening. 

The first project the UW-Extension will be creating with the school-aged children will allow for exploration through hands-on learning by combining science, design, nature, recycling and physics to make their own birdfeeder to take home on April 2.

Children can come back on April 9 to create a Puff Car to see how far it will go, and, on April 16, they will learn about stars and planets with a 3-D paper star craft. 

The final STEAM class will be held on Monday, April 23, and will focus on Rockets an Gravity, even having the children constructing straw rockets which they will be able to fly.
