Wild Rose Kiwanis spring concert to feature Ring of Kerry/Irish Dance

Wild Rose Kiwanis Club presents Ring of Kerry and Milwaukee Irish Dance Company for their 12th Annual Spring Concert on Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. in the Wild Rose H.S. Auditorium.

Ring of Kerry is a bursting-with-energy music ensemble of engaging musicians who perform vocal and instrumental Irish selections. Milwaukee Irish Dance Company will be performing

alongside Ring of Kerry.

All five of the Ring of Kerry musicians sing and play several instruments. Their sounds range from the thunder of the bodhran drum to the sparkle of the hammered dulcimer, from the lilt and rhythm of the fiddle and guitar to the haunting wails of the flutes and pennywhistles. The

Irish group was formed in St. Cloud, Minnesota and chose its name after the craggy drive in southwestern County Kerry, Ireland.

The band is currently recording its third CD and was a finalist for the prestigious McKnight Artist Fellowship for Performing Musicians Award. Their music retains the charm, beauty and recognizable sound of the Celtic strain while incorporating an Irish-American accent.
