Redgranite Piggly Wiggly to become Sentry Foods
Lucassen’s Piggly Wiggly, a neighborhood grocer located in Redgranite, will become Lucassen’s Sentry Foods effective March 15. The future Lucassen’s Sentry will see an increased amount of variety and value pricing throughout the store. The family-run business will continue to be owned and operated by David and Karen Lucassen.
David and Karen have owned the business since they purchased it in 1997 from fellow franchise owner, Pat Kautza. Prior to purchasing the store, David spent his entire career with Piggly Wiggly, both working in the stores and at the corporate headquarters in Sheboygan. With his long history with the company, it was not an easy decision for him to switch suppliers.
“I feel becoming a Sentry Foods will put our store in the best position to succeed,” stated David. “While it was hard to leave the Piggly Wiggly family, I feel confident that my partnership with my new supplier, Supervalu, will allow me to offer a better shopping experience to residents of Redgranite and surrounding communities.
Supervalu is a much larger operation that can offer more buying power, translating into better deals and variety for the customer.”
The Redgranite store is one of the few grocers in Wisconsin that still fries their doughnuts instead of baking them. As a Sentry Food’s, this will continue along with offering a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
