Green Bay man drowns in Redgranite Quarry
The Redgranite Police Department reported Daniel R. Whitmore, 49, Green Bay, died Aug. 12 while swimming at the Redgranite Quarry.
Police, fire and EMS units responded to the scene after a report of a drowning at 5:58 p.m. Aug. 12. According to Redgranite Police Chief Kyle Tarr, Whitmore was recovered and bystanders as well as a Redgranite Police Officer initiated CPR. Paramedics from Waushara County EMS administered advanced care, but attempts to revive Whitmore failed and he was pronounced dead by Waushara County Deputy Coroner Patrick Handel.
Alcohol appeared to be a factor in this case, according to the press release.
The Redgranite Police Department, Waushara County Sheriff’s Department, Redgranite Area Fire/Rescue and Waushara County EMS responded to this incident.
This is the second drowning death in the quarry this year. Eighteen-year-old Alaya HuaChee Lo of Appleton died on June 19.
