Lung cancer prevention

World Lung Cancer day was observed on Aug. 1st. Lung Cancer is important to talk about because lung cancer accounts for nearly one in five cancer deaths globally. It is important to remember that anyone can get lung cancer.

Remove yourself from situations where you’re exposed to hazardous chemicals to lessen your chances of getting lung cancer. The most common way to get lung cancer is from smoking. If you smoke, stop immediately. There are multiple resources out there to help you quit. You can also get lung cancer from second-hand smoke, air pollution, and exposure to radon gas. If you believe you are at risk for lung cancer, ask your doctor about a new lung cancer screening CT scan. The American Lung Association offers a lung cancer screening eligibility quiz on their website.

You can take action against lung cancer by encouraging your local representatives to vote for more funding for research on lung cancer. Join the fight today.
