At the regular meeting of the Waushara County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 21 at the Waushara County Courthouse, Wautoma, the board confirmed in closed session to hire Melissa Pingel as the new County Administrator.  Ruth Zouski, Corporate Counsel, had been the interim Administrator since the resignation of Robert Sivick.

The board also met in closed session concerning the location of the new EMS/Dining Center in Poy Sippi.  Following the closed session the board confirmed they had approved the location adjacent to the Family Dollar store on Hwy. 49 South of Poy Sippi.  The board agreed on purchasing a 3.68 acre parcel, zoned agriculture, for $40,000.

Public Health Officer, Patti Wohlfeil, addressed the board and presented some COVID facts on county residents.  She also presented a letter to the board written by Dr. Zachary Baeseman, Associate Director, Theda Care Physicans and the Waushara County Public Health Medical Director.  The letter stressed the importance of vaccinations, and how COVID has affected the schools. He also said, “If things continue to deteriorate at our hospitals due to the critically ill and unvaccinated folks displacing routine medical care, you can expect more employers and schools to enforce mandates for vaccination.”

This is not government overreach; it is a drastic public health tool, and perhaps the last resort option to mitigate the losses of human life which we currently observe, he added.

“The pandemic will pass and masks will eventually end, I promise, but for now, please help us take care of the health of our community by following DHS and CDC’s guidelines for public schools and public spaces,” Dr. Baeseman concluded.

The board passed an initial resolution approving Revenue Bond Financing for Bug Tussel for fiber optic towers and improved broadband for the county.

The board also approved:

*Tentative Waushara County Supervisory Redistricting Plan

*Participation in the Wisconsin County Fish and Game Project

*Modifying the Emer-gency Management Posi-tion to the Emergency Management/Procurement Officer Position

*Amending Waushara County Zoning Maps Zone Change – Jamie Zinecker – Town of Springwater

*Appointing Mary Wendt-land, Human Resources, Milk Specialities, Wautoma to the Fox Valley Department of Workforce Development Board

*Appointing Jessica Jaeger, Waushara County Treasurer and Stephanie Sattler, Waushara County GIS Coordinator to the Land Information Council.

The board also proclaimed September 2021 as Juror Appreciation Month.

The next regular meeting of the Waushara County Board of Supervisors will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the Waushara County Courthouse, Wautoma.
