County mourns first COVID-19 related death

The Waushara County Health Department confirms the county’s first death associated with COVID-19. The individual was a male in his 70s with underlying medical conditions.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the individual who has passed. We are saddened to report the county’s first COVID-19 related death.” said Patti Wohlfeil, Director/Health Officer for the Waushara County Health Department. “This tragic loss is a reminder of how important COVID-19 prevention efforts are in the protection of all of our community members. When we act for the safety and well-being of our neighbors, it benefits our entire community.”

As of 2 p.m. on Aug. 11 the Waushara County Health Department reported a total negative COVID-19 cases at 4,590; total positives 125; recovered cases 113; and one death.

During this uncertain time, we all need to do our best to protect each other. This includes: wearing a cloth face covering when appropriate, practicing social distancing, washing your hands often (or using hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available), and covering your coughs and sneezes.
