Wautoma Kiwanis hear from Dave Reilly

Subhead

On Oct. 8, the Wautoma Kiwanis Club welcomed Dave Reilly, Pupil Transportation Director for the Wautoma school district.

Dave spoke about all the precautions they are doing to help keep the school buses clean and safe for the students. Each students must, with no exceptions, wear a mask entering and while on the bus, then each student stops and get hand sanitizer from a touch free dispenser before they proceed to their assigned seat. Only students from the same family are allowed to sit together. For good air flow on the bus the two back windows, front window and the roof vents are open.

Each bus driver has their routes split into many route to ensure fewer students on the bus. There are 22 buses and the majority of them make two or three routes in the morning and after school.

After each route the bus driver walks from the back to the front spraying a commercial grade disinfectant over the seating area. Then after all routes in the morning and afterschool are completed the driver walks through with the Electrastic Fogger. A special chemical tablet is dropped into the container and water is added to make the fogger mix. Each week a deep clean is done on all buses with special mops and for the floor and seats. Dave said the buses have never been cleaner.

They are always looking for bus drivers so anyone interested in becoming a bus driver please contact Dave Reilly at 920-787-3875.
