Senator Patrick Testin speaks to Rotarians

Subhead

Patrick Testin Senior of the 24th District spoke to Rotary members about several areas of concern in the state.  The Coronavirus is the number one concern is keeping Wisconsin economy strong. For each day of the recent partial shutdown $1.8 million was lost in daily production.  A question was asked about why the Wisconsin unemployment benefits are taking so long to process. Testin stated in his reply that with all of the claims coming in there has been a several week back log in some cases. In one day they received 400,000 calls and their system cannot handle that volume. The Department of Workforce Development claims that the software and computer hardware is old and is slowing down the claims process. Testin pointed out that this is the same software that runs ATM’s and can handle that volume of transaction. Asked about the mask mandate from the Governor, Testin indicated that the Senate is watching closely what the Governor plans are for the future. They would like to avoid another state wide shut down. Wautoma Rotary meets every Wednesday at noon at Christianos in the second floor meeting room.  Rotary welcomes visitors and prospective new members to each meeting. At present, masks are required.
