Wautoma Library gets ready for springtime

Subhead

The Wautoma Public Library is getting ready for spring at the Wautoma Public Library. Stop in anytime Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. to get books on decluttering, gardening, things to do in Wisconsin, or just a fun read to avoid Spring cleaning. Check out one of the Rokus pre-loaded with the library’s Netflix, Vudu, and Amazon Prime accounts to enjoy movies and shows that are not out on DVD or available anywhere else.

Very soon, the library will have a Seed Library sponsored by the Waushara Master Gardeners available. Grow your own vegetables to make a healthy meal or nurture flowers for the butterflies or yourself to enjoy. When you pick up seeds, your name will be entered into a drawing for the book Ruffage: A Practical Guide to Vegetables.

Do you love reading or listening to books? You could win an awesome prize just for reading when you join the “Spring into Reading” program on Beanstack from March 20 - May 24. Visit their website www.wautomalibrary.org and head to the “Events” tab to sign up for this program. Sign up also for the “10 to Try” challenge for all ages which runs through the end of the year. If you are expecting or know someone in the area who will be having a baby, encourage them to sign up for the “Grow a Reader” program. Parents will set their baby up for success by establishing a reading routine early on. Parents who read at least 80 days to the baby will receive a free board book at the halfway point and an adorable onesie upon completion.

While you’re on Wautoma Library’s website, register for virtual Storytimes with Miss Becky Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. If you can’t make it at that time, all the videos will be posted in the Wautoma Library Virtual Storytime Facebook Group for a brief time, so you can enjoy the stories at a time that’s convenient for you. Storytime is geared toward kids ages 2-5, but all kids are welcome.

Explore their digital library or ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies and more in the “Digital Library” tab. All of these resources are completely free to patrons with a good-standing Wautoma Library card. If you don’t have a card, signing up is easy. Just bring your ID and proof of mailing address to the library and you’ll have access to the full digital library and thousands of books and movies at the library and 28 other libraries in the system.

Also, for kids, Wautoma Public Library will have bi-weekly activity and craft kits. This week and while supplies last, they have a Shamrock craft provided by the Waushara UW-Extension, 4-H Coordinator. When you stop to pick up your craft and visit the children’s library. You will find books for ages 0-13+ in the children’s room as well as Wonderbooks (books that read to you), Launchpads (pre-loaded learning tablets provided by the Friends of the Library), Playaways (audiobooks on a simple device), and DVDs. If you’re not sure where to look or are in a hurry, let your helpful librarians prepare a book/movie bundle for you. Fill out a Request Form and they will gather items for you based on interests and what is available.

For teens and adults, we have a Cookbook Challenge on Facebook. Make a recipe from a cookbook and share it on the Cookbook Challenge Facebook post to be entered to win a brand-new cookbook.

Wautoma Public Library will also have a coloring contest for adults and teens. Pick up a pack of coloring pages, unwind and get creative, and then bring back one or all of them to be entered into a prize drawing. Winners will receive a Starbucks Gift card.

The Wautoma Public Library hopes to see you soon.
