Hickory Nut Secrets at Wild Rose Library

Ever try to open a Hickory Nut?  They are some of the toughest nuts to crack, however, on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Patterson Memorial Library in Wild Rose, Sarah Napparelle from the Wisconsin Hickory Association will share the secrets of the Hickory nut and tree, including cracking and eating some of these tasty treats.

“The Hickory tree is an important member of Wisconsin forests, providing one of the strongest woods and most delicious nutmeats in the woods,” observed Napparelle, continuing “the Hickory is a very useful tree and also beautiful, and I will share some of the secrets, as well as bring some seedlings up for the Library grounds.”
