To the Editor,

One only has to reflect on the overwhelming disasters (this year already) to realize the ongoing and “on-growing” need to basically “help others” in these times of hardships. Truth is, there also continues to be a need for our assistance right here in Waushara County.

The above facts are the reason this letter is going out to over 25 different clubs, churches, professional groups and civic organizations. Why? Because the above need causes us to work even harder to raise donations that benefit citizens of our county. Remember that 90 percent of all donations from the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign stays in Waushara County.

This year, we hope to ring the bells, in Wautoma alone, for over 440 hours over a 29 day season beginning Saturday, Nov. 18, and running through Saturday, Dec. 23. The locations are all indoor stations at StoneRidge, Copps and Shopko. As always, if standing is not desired, bell ringers are asked to bring a stool or folding chair.

There is not one paid position in Waushara County, but rather our Salvation Army Campaign exists per volunteers only. All you will get in return is group recognition in the media and at kettle sites during your time period.

If you aren’t already involved and would like to volunteer for Salvation Army duty, please call Roger Charette at (920) 787-4250 or for Wild Rose area, call Linda Steffen at (920) 622-3088.
