Riverview Elementary: Henry Gaatz

The Kindergarten Team would like to nominate Henry Gaatz for Riverview Student of the Month. Henry is a great role model and displays all of the Riverview character traits daily. He is responsible for his learning and meets each challenge with enthusiasm. Henry comes to school prepared to learn each and every day. He is a kind friend, helping others pick up their materials when needed, and is a role model to others, often helping those around him when they need support. Henry is also a hard worker, completing any and all tasks given with enthusiasm.

For these reasons and so many more we believe Henry deserves Riverview Student of the Month.

Redgranite Elementary: Keelan Lyles

During the month of January, Redgranite Elementary School celebrated the character trait Determination. According to his teacher Miss Simacek, Keelan Lyles is always striving to do his best, even if it isn’t always easy. He always turns in quality work and is determined to complete his work to the best of his ability. There have been many times this school year when Keelan will stay in a few minutes at recess on his own accord and finish his work. His teachers have seen his determination spread to others throughout the classroom as well. Keelan strives for success each day shown by his determination.

Parkside School:

Everly Blader

This sixth grade girl is a kind and caring young lady. She always has a smile and checks to make sure everyone is happy, too. She takes care of everyone with a maternal instinct. She understands the material in her classes and she eagerly shares her knowledge with her classmates when she is paired in class. She is friendly, courteous, and responsible. She is also a hard worker and takes pride in her schoolwork. She has a positive attitude that spreads rapidly around anyone who has the pleasure to be near her. Her participation in the classroom shows her engagement and she challenges her teacher to create a deeper understanding of the content they are teaching.

Lastly, this girl also created the Christmas Committee which brought spirit and good cheer to the 6th-grade team. She created a contract for her teachers to sign for their approval. Then she had her committee members sign the contract to state that they could work on the doors as long as they are all caught up with their work and they have stellar behavior in and out of the classroom. It is for these reasons and many more that the sixth-grade team is proud to nominate Everly Blader as the student of the month.

Wautoma High School: Jackson Perez Alarcon

The English and Social Studies Departments would like to nominate sophomore Jackson Perez Alarcon for the Student of the Month. We think Jackson has displayed great determination this year in learning and starting to use English in his written work as well as orally with his teachers and peers.

At the beginning of the year, he started out with a simple greeting and farewell in English and has worked up to now asking questions about his work, and even sharing his thoughts in English with his book club. Jackson is a bright young man who has to work just a little bit harder than his peers to demonstrate his abilities to his teachers. He utilizes every bit of work time in the school day: in class, START, and FLEXTIME, to translate the information he is given by his teachers. He even stays after school somedays to ensure he gets his work done to the best of his ability. He tackles every day with a smile and a can-do spirit being a prime example of what it means to be determined.
