Solar Project Update

Subhead
Roughly six months after installing the first solar panel at Alliant Energy’s Wautoma Solar Project, workers on site celebrated a major milestone as the final panel was bolted into place. In total, the construction team installed more than 238,000 solar panels which will allow the site to generate nearly 100 MW of electricity – enough to power around 25,000 homes annually. Alliant Energy expects to complete cable installation and work around the substation before testing and commissioning the site later this summer. During the testing and commissioning phase, engineers will test the various components of the project and begin generating small amounts of electricity to ensure all systems on site are working as expected. The Wautoma Solar Project remains on track to be placed into full service by the end of the year.
