Quilt at ‘23 Augustfest to benefit Pallet Fire victims

Subhead
It has been a long tradition for quilts to be made to raise funds for community causes. We now have “The Pallet Fire Quilt” to be shown for a silent auction bidding, with all proceeds going to the Coloma Pallet Fire Victims. The quilt was made and donated by nationally known quilt designer and published quilt and craft designer Elinor Czarnecki from Wautoma. Elinor is not new to making and giving quilts for good causes. She collected over 75 handquilted twin size quilts from around the country while she was traveling and teaching quiltmaking. Nationally, for the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa, when it was being built. The house was the first in the nation to have a quilt on every bed when it opened. When moving to Wautoma she collected 200 blankets for the Afghan refugees with the help of the Waushara community. Now you may bid on one of her personally made quilts. The “Pallet Quilt” measures 84”x84” made of brown and white fabric and has been machine quilted. Opening bid is $500. The highest bidder will have a special quilt for their home. The quilt will be on display at the WWII Building and silent auction bidding forms will be available Saturday, Aug. 12. Check out the Augustfest schedule at augustfest.org, the Resorter and the Waushara Argus for family activities throughout the day.
