Patti Wohlfeil announces retirement after nearly 20 years with Waushara County Public Health Department

Patti Wohlfeil has served with Waushara County Public Health Department for nearly 20 years and she is now being congratulated on her retirement on Jan. 13.

Patti’s years of service include leading through the 2009 H1N1 pandemic and the 2019 COVID pandemic, multiple Wisconsin state audits, and most importantly, has established community health for Waushara County.  Under her direction, there has been significant growth in addressing community health issues, including chronic disease, substance use/abuse, mental well-being/suicide prevention, childhood injury prevention, prenatal and postpartum support for mothers, food and well water safety, and access to health care.

During her time at Waushara County, Patti also led the Health Department to receive national accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board.  This process demonstrates that the health department is providing the foundational public health capabilities and meeting national standards for performance and quality.

When thinking about retirement; vacations, rest, sleeping in, and spending time with family all come to mind, but for Patti it will be different.  She has a servant’s heart and will continue to be a resource and support within her community.  Her greatest task yet, is to teach and continue to demonstrate the importance of community health to her two young granddaughters.

Patti, may you be proud of the work you have done, the person you are, and the difference you have made.
