A look back at the Summer of 1955 – Wautoma Centennial

In the summer months, weather permitting, kangaroo court was held on North Sant Marie Street between Holt’s Jewelry and Reeder Hardware. Men without a beard were usually put in the stockade. The stockade was next to Holt’s Jewelry. Everett “Judge Brock” Brockman was the Judge. He owned Brock’s Motel, which is now where the Super 8 Motel is located. Judge Brock’s court was next to Reeder Hardware (now Thrivent Financial). People in the picture are: Homer Moon, Marry Ellen Oungst, Brenda Dehling, Margaret Rose, Ardis Greener, Bea Kietzer, Kenneth Sundeen, Mike Gramse, Charley Blader, Lester Shimelphenig, Herbie Post, and Bill Belter.
