Habitat for Humanity now offering Veterans Home Repair Program
Habitat for Humanity serving Green Lake, Marquette, and Waushara Counties is now offering a zero-cost home repair program for qualifying families.
The Veterans Home Repair Program was created to expand the services provided by the Habitat for Humanity of Green Lake, Marquette, and Waushara, Counties of Wisconsin, to help provide a decent place to live for low-income families and individuals. The Veterans Home Repair Program is intended to expand the number of families reached each year by the affiliate, as well as expand and increase community involvement.
The Veterans Home Repair Program will seek to improve the living conditions and livelihood of Veterans and their families by providing them with a decent place to live through home repairs.
The program will offer repair services at no cost to the veterans and their homeowners. This is made possible as the affiliate works in partnership with several key organizations and stakeholders, as well as federal grants to cover all costs of the home repairs.
Veteran Status – Must be a veteran of the U.S. Military, with an Honorable, or General - Under Honorable Conditions discharge. Overseas, or Combat service is NOT required.
Income – Family income must be less than 80 percent of the area median income:

Need for Adequate Housing – Applicant must demonstrate a physical need for housing repair significant deterioration, safety hazard/concern, accessibility limitations, overcrowding…
Willingness to Partner – Applicant must be willing to complete sweat equity requirements, participate in a homeowner education course, and must remain in the home for at least five years after the repair.
