Barn victim Mark Melby at UW Madison Burn Center surrounded by family during a recent visit.

Fund opened for Melby family at Associated Bank

There is a family in need of financial help as we begin this holiday season.  We hope after reading this story and seeing the photo you will find it in your heart to help this family.

On Oct. 8, Mark Melby, a Waushara County resident, was burned in an accident at his home.  He has second and third degree burns on his hands, arms, face and upper torso and was flown to the UW-Madison Burn Center where he is currently receiving skin grafts and treatment.

Mark has had many set backs since he had surgery and all the skin graphting done about three weeks ago.  He has had pneumonia for over two weeks and a MRSA Infection that traveled through his blood stream.  He ended up with respiratory failure twice and was put on a ventilator and is now way behind in his healing process.

Once he is able to leave the Madison hospital he will be transferred to a rehabilitation center for a few weeks.   Jane Melby, Mark’s wife, and son David, 23, and Selena, 19, have been traveling many days a week to spend time with Mark.  This is however getting very costly for the family, and all the expenses that are yet to come from the ambulance, helicopter, and the long stay in the burn center followed by upcoming rehabilitation center, the family is reaching out to the community for support.

There is an account open for Mark and Jane Melby at Associated Bank, Wautoma, for donations to assist the family or you can mail it to their home address at N1231 Lucerne Lakewood Rd., Neshkoro, WI  54960.  The family is most appreciative for the support and prayers during this most difficult time.
