Food Pantries receive a generous donation

Congressman Glenn Grothman announced he had distributed his paycheck to twenty-seven food pantries around Wisconsin’s Sixth Congressional District to help fight hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. His total donations amounted to over $10,000.

“It has bothered me that so many individuals have had to cut back due to government restrictions related to this pandemic,” Grothman said.  “Meanwhile the government officials, who find it so easy to order other people around, are not affected. I felt guilty receiving my entire paycheck.”

While the federal gov-ernment was very generous in increasing food share benefits and also greatly increasing unemployment benefits, there are also people who slip through the cracks.  Congressman Grothman has found that self-employed people were particularly negatively affected.  “If you own your own business you not only don’t have income coming in but also must pay fixed costs.”

“I am worried that when benefits go down at the end of July the need will go up,” Congressman Grothman continued.  “I have found that most food pantries have seen increased need and they are especially grateful for donations.”

In addition to recom-mending people donate to their local food pantries if they can, Congressman Grothman continues to recommend people get their proper dosage of Vitamin-D after research from Northwestern University and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland have found correlations between fighting against COVID-19 and Vitamin D.
