Hope Lutheran Church to present annual cantata – From Darkness to Light on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 9 a.m.
The Hope Lutheran Church Choir will present From Darkness to Light: A Liturgy of Advent Lessons and Anthems on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 9 a.m. Hope is located at 301 East Mt. Morris Avenue in Wautoma. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the music.
This service uses choral anthems to present the story of Advent which covers centuries and emphasizes our waiting for Messiah and which culminates in the birth of Jesus on Christmas day. The choral anthems are a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs and hymns emphasizing arrangements by contemporary composers. The culminating anthem is “Advent Proclamation” by Susan and Lee Dengler.
Featured are soloists, narrators, and instrumentalists from Hope. Also participating is the Hope Lutheran Handbell Choir. The choirs are under the direction of
David Berndt, with Linda Bergen as the pianist. Hope invites everyone to share in the story of Advent. A fellowship hour will follow the cantata.
