Westfield students attend DECA Emerging Leaders Conference
On Oct. 29 and 30, the Westfield DECA business leadership group traveled to Wisconsin Dells to participate in the DECA Emerging Leaders Conference held at the Kalahari Convention center. This conference is broken up into three sessions, Teamwork Tower, Jukebox, and Creative Thinking Challenge. Each session has either a role or challenge given to complete with the help of others in your group, whom are from different schools from around the state. For the Teamwork Tower they worked in teams without talking to create a tower out of 20 sheets of paper and scotch paper. The team that created the tallest freestanding tower won the competition. The Jukebox challenge the students competed against each other in teams trying to brainstorm and sing a song that related to the topic. For the Creative Thinking challenge, students received a problem and they had to solve the problem using teamwork and clues. The students who attended were (front): Amber Herrera, Gianna Bastien, Skye Schumdluch, Chris Rippeto, and Owen Novy; (middle): Sydney Jenkins, Orion Watry, Hunter Abbott, Zach Zajda, Destiny Burby, Faith Simonson, and Haley Halverson; (back): Noah Sackett, Zane Baker, Wyatt Searles, Cade Winter-Procknow, Ian Beversdorf, Charlie Hadlock, Lacey Baumann, and Lindsay Baumann.
