Parkside & Riverview schools receive grants from Adams Columbia
Principal Deb Premo of Parkside Middle School and Principal Ann Fajfer of Riverview Elementary School noted that both schools received grants from Adams Columbia Electric Cooperative during the April 8 Wautoma Area School District Board of Education meeting at Wautoma High School. Andrew Braatz and Kaitlyn Albrecht of Parkside and Jennifer Wagner of Riverview applied for grants for their schools, and each was awarded $500 for their respective schools.
This is the first year there was a math club at Riverview Elementary School, Wautoma, where third graders gave up their recess to work with coaches on their math skills for the whole year. These students were given a test that other math clubs throughout the country were given. There was only one perfect score in Wisconsin, and that student was Lydia Newman from Riverview Elementary.
Vice President Jay Klemann announced that this meeting would be his last. He had been on the Board for 21 years, and he thanked the Board for all their hard work.
The Board approved the retirement of Timothy Goke as Transportation Supervisor. The following employments were also approved: SY2019-20 individual bus driver contracts, SY2019-20 substitute bus driver contracts, SY2019-20 individual support staff letters of intent; ST2019-20 individual teacher contracts, Timothy Goke as bus driver, Jordan Reilly as summer intern, Summer food service program staff, A+ Summer Camp staff, Jesse Johnson as Non-district volunteer and High School baseball coach, and Megan Stevens as the girls soccer assistant coach.
The Board decided that President Ross Peterson, Nicole Lehr, and Karen Piechowski would be scholarship readers. Ross Peterson and Nicole Lehr will be diploma readers at the Saturday, May 25 graduation.
District Administrator Tom Rheinheimer distributed Policy 2431-Interscholastic Athletics and Extracurricular Code Revision.
The Board discussed the distribution of the 2019-2020 WASH buildings and grounds prioritized project list. Rheinheimer informed the Board that he divided the projects into two categories: Projects to be completed before June 30 and projects to be completed after July 1.

•Vouchers and payroll
•Revised and/or New Policies for second consideration
•Drainage and remediation direction
•WASD Mechanic job description
•Transportation Supervisor Contract
The next Board of Education work meeting will be held Monday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wautoma High School Distance Learning Lab. The next monthly meeting will be on Monday, May 13 at 6:15 p.m. in the Parkside Middle School Library.
