DECA students from Westfield High School attended the State Career Development Conference March 4-6 in Lake Geneva. Those who attended were: (back): Amberlee Herrera, Orion Watry, Claudia Johnston, Destiny Burby and Zach Zajda; (front): Lillian Radzikinas, Samuel Blazich, Zane Baker, Carter Stauffacher, Owen Novy, and Gianna Bastien.

DECA attends State Career Development Conference

On March 4-6, eleven students from Westfield Area High School attended the state DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) conference which was held in Lake Geneva at the Grand Geneva resort. Over 1,300 students attend the conference competing for a spot to attend the National Conference in Orlando,FL.


The students competed in different events throughout the three days. Each student took a test and completed two role plays in front of business people from throughout the state. After all their hard work five students were selected to go to nationals in Orlando for being an Emerging Leader.


Gianna Bastien finished 6th in the state in the event Marketing and Business Education Training Plan. Earning their proficiency awards were Orion Watry, Zane Baker, Zach Zajda, Owen Novy, and Gianna Bastien. Earning an award service was Lillian Radzikinas. The chapter also earned the Diamond Chapter Award, Membership Campaign Award, Chapter Campaign Award, MDA award, and Community Service Award.
