The Westfield Pioneers hosted in the Berlin Indians for a Jan. 21 boys’ basketball game at Westfield High School. The Pioneers were unable to get ahead of their opponent, falling 67-38 in favor of the Indians.
Within three minutes Berlin was on the scoreboard and proceeded to control the entire game. Westfield was not able to keep up in successful passes, many times having the ball stolen while Berlin mastered full court presses and three pointers. Ten minutes in to the game the fouls were building on the Pioneers 2- 0 with the scoreboard at 4-10.
The Westfield Pioneers kicked into gear the last 10 minutes of the second period, but not enough to tip the game their direction. Final score was 67-38 for a Berlin Indians non-conference game win.
Top scorers for the Pioneers included Sam Berruecos with 14 points, Kash Kangas with 8, Keegan Hockerman and Caleb Hooks each with 6, and Ervin Meiller with 4.
