Wautoma/Wild Rose Harriers win Poynette Invitational

On Sept. 6 the Wautoma/Wild Boys Cross Country Team placed first in the eight school Poynette Cross Country Invitational.

Wautoma/Wild Rose scored 44 points to outdistance second place Watertown Luther Prep who scored 62 points.

Portage was third with 71 points followed by Lodi with 125, Edgerton 129, Lakeside Lutheran 138, Columbus 164, and Lake Mills 168.

Kordell Woyak led the Hornet/Wildcat runners with a second place finish out of 56 runners. Hayden Schwartzman 8th, Caleb Williams 10th, Aiden Doherty 11th, Ashton Schwartzman 13th, Creedon Abraham 14th, and Lance Erdman 18th.

The Junior Varsity Boys were also victorious, scoring 22 points, beating second place Watertown Luther Prep by 31 points.

Matt Kapral was the individual JV winner with Cavan Williams 3rd, Joey Button 4th, Corbin Francisco 5th, Garrik Kjentvet 9th, Jordan Daye 12th, Ethan Sullivan 16th, Dylan Dobraff 23rd, Kane Cronkrite 24th, James Barbarich 34th, Wyatt McComb 37th, Ashton Abraham 48th, and Connor Ennis 57th.

The Wautoma/Wild Rose Girls placed sixth out of eight schools. Team scores were Watertown Luther Prep 42, Lake Mills 46, Lodi 87, Columbus 111, Lakeside Lutheran 116, Wautoma 143, Portage 170, and Edgerton 172.

MacKenzie Caves paced the Hornet/Wildcat Girls with a fifth place finish out of 56 runners. Kiana Julian placed 20th, Delaney Psalm 24th, Amber Babcock 46th, Bailey Rheinheimer 48th, Carley Burt 49th, and Lily Erdman 54th.

The Junior Varsity Girls placed fourth out of eight schools. Kinsey Reynolds-Eilers placed 17th out of 70 runners. Kaitlyn Brooks placed 27th, Megan Miller 36th, Torrance Marquez 38th, Marcel Buss 40th, Abby Peterman 56th, Esther Brooks 57th, Megan Kelly 64th, and Emma Chase 67th.

The next action for the Hornet/Wildcat runners will be Saturday, Sept 15 at the Ripon Kris Greening Invitational and Tuesday, Sept 18 at the Wautoma Invitational, held at the Lake Lucerne Camping and Retreat Center.
