Three Pioneers make podium at SCC Conference tournament in Nekoosa

The Pioneers were led by Junior, Mason Peters, who pinned his opponent in the semi-final match at the SCC Conference Tournament at Nekoosa High School on Feb. 7.

Mason fell short in the finals and took second place. Darren Leibsle wrestled hard, but fell short to the conference champ. He was able to fight back to take home third place at 160 pounds. Mason Rudolph placed third at 220 pounds pinning his opponent in the third place match. Sophomore Carson Lyon started off the night strong with a pin and ended taking home 4th place.

“This young Pioneer team held their own and had a good showing in a strong conference tournament,” said Head Wrestling Coach Mark Groskreutz. Final Results:

106 pounds: Chase Kite, 5th place.

120 pounds: Tommy Huff, 5th place.

132 pounds: Carson Lyon, 4th place.

138 pounds: Daniel Servi, 6th place.

145 pounds: Jack Marotz, 6th place.

160 pounds: Darren Leibsle, 3rd place.

170 pounds: Lucas Knoch, 6th place.

195 pounds: Mason Peters, 2nd place.

220 pounds: Mason Rudolph, 3rd place.

The Pioneers travel to New Lisbon for Regionals on Saturday February 15.
