A large crowd was in attendance for the Westfield vs. Adams-Friendship Conference Championship game on Feb. 9.
Off the benches it looked like the Lady Green Devils might have the advantage, scoring first a few minutes into the game. Nine minutes into the first quarter it appeared the teams were to be evenly matched at a score of 6-6 with fouls climbing for the Lady Green Devils 1-4.
With 6:46 left in the first period the teams were nearly equal in presses and three pointers. The score was 10-8. Highest scores for the Pioneers was Senior Brandi Lentz with 4 points and a tie between Green Devils Addison Bula and Junior Maya Kautzer at 4 points each. The first period ended with the Pioneers pulling ahead 27-14 with fouls at 9-10.
The second period at the 10:15 time out the score was Pioneers 47, Adams-Friendship 22. Adams-Friendship unable to handle the defensive drive by Lady Pioneer Junior Carly Drew for 15 and Sophomore Lacy Halverson for 14 points. The clock had 5:08 left and the Lady Pioneers were leading the Lady Green Devils 54-22.
The Lady Pioneers defeated the Lady Green Devils 59-26 with the Conference Championship title.
