Lady Pioneers triumph over Tomah Lady Timberwolves

The Westfield Lady Pioneers took on the Tomah Lady Timberwolves during a Jan. 17 girls’ basketball game at Westfield High School.

 

The teams were evenly matched in the high energy first half. Tomah took an early 6-2 lead over the Lady Pioneers with 13:47 on the clock. The Lady Timberwolves kept up a 2-point lead during the start of the first half. Haddie Showen was able to get the Lady Pioneers a 1 point lead over their opponent with a 3-point shot with 9:53 left in the half.

 

The start of the second half had the teams tied at 28 points, until another 3-pointer from Showen putting the Lady Pioneers in the lead 31-28. It soon became apparent that the Timberwolves were losing ground by just minutes into the second half of the game. Carly Drew kept growing the Lady Pioneers lead with another 3-pointer on the board. Drew was able to add another 2 points to the board after shooting 2 successful free throws. Nadia Hoffa was able to give the Lady Pioneers an 11 point lead after shooting for 3 points. The Lady Pioneers pulled far ahead and finished the game win with a score of 62-41.

 

Carly Drew was the highest point scorer of the game with 22 points, including four 3-pointers and 2 of 2 free throws. Drew also recorded 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals. Haddie Showen put 18 points on the board, with four 3-pointers along with 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Nadia Hoffa scored 12 points, including four 3-pointers. Brandi Lentz put 6 points on the board and Breanne Czaplewski and Sidney Hoffa each had 2.

The Lady Pioneers are now 16-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference for the 2022-23 season.
