The Wautoma Lady Hornets were able to score a close win, 41-38, against the Mayville Lady Cardinals during the first round of regional action on Feb. 21.
Mayville claimed an early first half lead, but the Lady Hornets were able to tie up the score at 15 to end the first half. Both teams kept the score close in the second half, but Wautoma had the upper hand in the end.
Bri Buechner was the Lady Hornets top scorer with 20 points throughout the night. Buechner also pulled off 2 steals. Alayna Panich put up 9 points and recorded 4 assists. Montana Groskreutz and Sydney Dunn each had 5 points followed by Bryn Gunderson with 2.
