Almond-Bancroft Eagles end season with WIAA playoff loss to Gilman Pirates

The Almond-Bancroft Eagles ended their season on Nov. 1 when they competed against the Gilman Pirates during WIAA playoffs and lost, 15-35.

 

The Eagles started off the game looking good, with Daniel Baumgartner passing to Matt Lukas for a 40-yard touchdown. There was a successful two-point conversion by Jackson Beggs. With 5 seconds left on the clock, Boie scored a touchdown for the Pirates, with teammate Kroeplin having a successful two-point conversion. The teams were even, 8-8, going into the second.

The Eagles were unsuccessful in the second quarter, with Gilman’s Kroeplin and Boie scoring touchdowns with one successful two-point conversion and one unsuccessful extra point. The score was 22-8 when the third quarter started. Gilman managed two more touchdowns by Boie and Gunderson, and one successful two-point conversion and one extra point. These were the last points Gilman would score in the game.

 

Almond-Bancroft’s Lukas managed to get a touchdown for a 15-yard gain with 45 seconds left on the clock. Kenny Gaspar-Diaz scored an extra point, which left the final score 35-15 in the Pirates’ favor.
