Lester E. Katzner, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, died July 3 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Lester was born March 21, 1935 in Waukesha to Edward and Hilda Katzner. He married Arla Miller on November 27, 1954 in Wautoma. She died January 13, 2010. Lester served in the US Army. For over 40 years, Lester was employed as a mechanic at Warsinske Motor Company in Wisconsin Rapids.

In earlier years, Lester was involved in local stock car racing and was a member of the Central Wisconsin Racing Association. He enjoyed watching NASCAR. Lester’s interests included hunting, fishing, gardening, and being with his dog, Buddy. Most of all Lester was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and with his brother at Butch’s cottage in Hancock.

He is survived by two children Pamela (Tom) Raab of Wisconsin Rapids and Jim Katzner of McAllen, TX; four grandchildren Nicole (Mike) Stojak, Jennifer (Jason) Volkening, Ashley (Cade) Hamin and Casie Oleson (Toby); nine great grandchildren Lilly-Jo, Maleah, Lucy-Mae, Cole, Jayden, Haley, Aiden, Jeremiah, Emmett and one due in January; his sister Shirley Barton of Green Bay and his brother Gerald (Peggy) Katzner of Hancock.

Lester was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother-in-law Charles Barton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Valentine Joseph officiated. Visitation was held at the church on Aug. 3 from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home, Nekoosa, assisted the family.
