Edith Lautenschlager (Glassman), age 97, passed away at Eden Meadows on Aug. 10. Edith was born on Aug. 4, 1921 in Germany to Siegfried and Lena Glassman. Edith celebrated her first birthday on Ellis Island. She grew up in Oshkosh with four sisters and one brother. She married the love of her life, John Lautenschlager, on September 28, 1943. John preceded her in death on March 27, 1999.
John’s job took them to many states. They had two children, a son, Dr. Craig Lautenschlager of Orlando, FL, and a daughter, Karen (Alan) Caley of Aurora, CO. Their family grew to include four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Edith’s ashes will be mixed with John’s and placed in a niche at Lake View Memorial Mausoleum in Oshkosh, where they will be together forever. Per Edith’s wishes, there will be no public services.
Edith was a loving wife mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will live forever in hearts and memories.
