Plainfield Library introduces new Maker Cart

The Plainfield Library has hosted many arts, crafts, and STEM activities over the years, and due to the generosity of the Waushara Prevention Council and the Friends of the Plainfield Library, they now have a stocked Maker Cart to do even more.

The Maker movement emphasizes learning through doing, motivated by personal interest, and the pure fun of making something with your hands. Plainfield Library’s goal is to encourage experimentation, creativity, and collaboration. The Maker Cart is a repurposed AV cart stocked with tools, glues, LED bulbs, circuit blocks, K’nex, and other materials needed to spark creativity.

The Maker Cart will be unveiled during Maker Week, Sept. 18-22. Each day there will be a small Make & Take project to introduce Maker Cart. These projects are geared to pre-teens and teens, but going forward the library will incorporate more activities for younger children and adults with monthly First Friday Maker Days beginning Friday, Oct. 5th.
