Letter to the Editor:

Dear Editor,

The real heroes in this terrible crisis are, of course, medical professionals. The additional heroes we should also recognize are people employed in grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, Amazon, and Wal-Mart as well as truckers and delivery drivers.

These workers have a higher risk of contracting the virus, yet their work is essential for our survival. All these workers deserve hazard pay, and we all should contribute.  The most logical method is to pay slightly more for prices of goods and services these workers provide.

The increase in prices can serve two purposes: First, allow for hazard pay to all the individuals that are helping the rest of us to survive.  Second, an act to encourage production and discourage hoarding. These price increases will help reduce shortages and acknowledge the importance of these heroes to the production and distribution process.
