State Representative Scott Krug receives “Friend of Grocers” award
State Representative Scott Krug (R-Nekoosa) received the “Friend of Grocers” Award from the Wisconsin Grocers Association on Oct. 8 at StoneRidge Piggly Wiggly, 975 E. Main St., Wautoma.
The “Friend of Grocers” Award is given to legislators who score an “A” on the WGA’s Legislative Report Card – an extensive study of all legislator’s performance in the 2017-2018 Legislative Session. Lawmakers are graded according to their actions on certain issues that are especially important to the grocery industry, including: unemployment insurance reforms; person property tax relief; and several labor issues.
“This is Representative Krug’s first Friend of Grocers Award,” said WGA President and CEO Brandon Scholz. “While Representative Krug has always been supportive of the grocery industry, this past session he was a co-sponsor on legislation that repealed the requirement for 16 and 17 year olds to obtain child labor permits, which removed a lot of unnecessary regulations from grocers.”
In addition receiving the Friends of Grocers Award, these legislators receive the endorsement of the Wisconsin Grocers Association toward their re-election efforts.
The award was presented to Representative Krug by Brandon Scholz, WGA President and Elissa Ewald, Store Manager of StoneRidge Piggly Wiggly, Wautoma.
