Redgranite Villiage Board tables liquor license request

The Redgranite Village Board tabled a request by Fortifi Bank for a liquor license for the former Granite Inn, located at 1100 W. Bannerman Ave., during the May 24 board meeting.  Erica Grota, who represented the bank at the meeting, told board members that the former business does not have an offer to purchase the property, but they would need to have a liquor license commitment from the board to sell the property as a future supper club. Grota asked whether the board would allow any future business-owners to have the license for approximately 120 days prior to opening versus the normal 30 days, stating that the business would need “a lot of work” before it could open. Village President Belinda Passarelli told Grota that the board needed to discuss the topic with village legal counsel Joan Olson and have her draft liquor license revocation stipulations so that the liquor license would come back to the village if the future business-owners failed to open in a specific number of days. Passarelli told Grota that the board should be able to vote on this matter at the June meeting.
