A message from your Waushara County 2020 Census Committee

In partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, the Waushara County Complete Count Committee (CCC) wants to encourage all community members to respond to the Census, which is confidential and protected by federal law. By now, most households should have received Census information in the mail, but this may not be the case if you receive mail by post office (PO) box. For this reason, the CCC wants to ensure that all households have the information they need to respond the 2020 Census now.

It’s important to participate in the Census, which occurs just once every ten years. The results of the Census count will impact funding that counties receive for things like education, housing, roads, healthcare, libraries, parks, police, services for seniors and more, for the next decade. For each person not counted, state and local governments lose money provided by the federal government for these vital services. This count also determines the number of House representatives that Wisconsin will receive to represent state voices in U.S. Congress. For these reasons, a complete and accurate count is crucial to both Wisconsin and Waushara County.

For the first time, people will be able to respond to the Census online, by phone, or by mail. The CCC would like to encourage everyone to respond using the method of their choice. If you have not received your invitation to respond by mail, please visit my2020census.gov or call 1-844-330-2020 (or 1-844-468-2020 for Spanish). By choosing to participate fully, using the method most convenient for you, no one will come to your door seeking a response. In this time, when Wisconsinites are doing all they can to stay safe and slow the spread of COVID-19, participating in the Census at a distance is even more vital.

If you do not respond, a Census taker will have no other choice but to come to your address seeking your response. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Census field operations have been suspended until June 1, 2020. Please protect Census workers, yourselves, your families and community by responding online, by phone, or by mail today. For your convenience, and for whichever method you choose by which to respond, the U.S. Census Bureau offers access in a number of languages.

Everyone counts and it’s never been easier to participate. Don’t forget responding now in the safety of your home will impact the next 10 years.
