Hancock Village Board commended on paving & improvements on Main St.
The Hancock Village Board meeting was held from on July 9. Citizen Lenny Carlton commended the board on the paving and improvements on Main Street. Several business owners voiced their concerns about the sidewalks, which have a slope to them. The business members will meet with the contractors downtown to actually show them the problem areas. Clerk Kelly Kemnetz reported that the county requested that Hancock publish their election notices in the Argus. Motion was made and passed with one nay. She also announced that the Waushara County Board meeting will be held at the Operating Engineers Building on Tuesday, July 17. Larry Monroe reported on the Community Center Board meeting on July 3. At the meeting a community Garden was discussed for next year. The next Community Center Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The board was commended on taking on a 1.5 million dollar work project that has no cost to taxpayers. Seventy-five percent of the project was covered by grants with the rest covered by low interest loans. The board discussed several ideas for attracting new businesses to the area. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration will take place on Saturday, Aug. 4. The time will be posted at the post office and village office. The next village board meeting will take place on Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 pm.
