County holds Holiday luncheon for employees & volunteers
On Friday, Dec. 7, Waushara County held its annual Holiday Luncheon for County employees and volunteers. Over 250 people were in attendance and for a short hour enjoyed food and fellowship.
In the spirit of the holiday season, County employees voluntarily contributed almost $900 to Habitat for Humanity (this year’s designated charity), over 250 lbs, of food to the Waushara County Food Pantry, and more than fifty toys to the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.
County Administrator Bob Sivick instituted the luncheon last year as a way to boost morale and show appreciation for daily efforts of employees and volunteers. Sivick explained, “Being a public employee is often difficult and many have physically demanding dangerous jobs as well. Unlike the private sector, we do not offer year-end bonuses and lavish gifts.”
In referring to volunteers, Sivick stated, “Many people volunteer their time assisting County staff providing vital services to the people of Waushara County.
“From a fiscal standpoint, Waushara County taxpayers reap the benefit of their free labor worth many hundreds of thousands of dollars.” Sivick concluded, “Every day I walk into that Courthouse and am honored to work with so many outstanding dedicated public servants.”
