Wild Rose School Board receives $57,188 DOJ School Safety Grant

The Wild Rose School Board learned of all the preparations being made to get ready for the 2018-19 school year during an Aug. 9 meeting.

There was an announce-ment made at the meeting, which revealed that the district was being awarded a $57,188 School Safety Grant from the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice in round one of the school safety grant program.

The Board reviewed the tentative budget for the 2018-19 school year before it goes to the annual school meeting and budget hearing on Aug. 13. was pointed out that there will still be $5,800 short in the budget, but it will be adjusted when the equalized values come out in October.

Personnel resignations of MS/HS principal Chris Nelson and grades 5-12 instrumental music teacher Bryan Kujawa were officially approved. These positions had already been filled. The resignations of Ryan Dummer as the grades 6-12 vocal music teacher and Sharon Yeska as the junior varsity volleyball coach were approved. The appointments of Michael Etzwiler as the vocal music teacher for grades 6-12 and Lisa Schmidt as the junior varsity volleyball coach were approved. The appointment of Nancy Fletcher as the family consumer science teacher was also approved. The resignation of Andrea Bechard as an 80 percent physical education/health teacher was also approved.

Staffing assignments, the master schedule, and the staff development plan were reviewed and approved by the Board for the 2018-19 school year.

A cooperative virtual program agreement with Wisconsin Rapids was approved.
