Joining hands and hearts to benefit Miguel Duran, a 9 year old with terminal cancer

I have said it before and I will say it again, “There is nothing like living in this area.  When there is a need, the people come forth to offer their help.”  This happened last Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Redgranite Lions Club Hall.  Hundreds of people came to donate items, money, and their time.  Many hands made for happy hearts.

Whether you came to the benefit and donated a large ticket item, a dozen cookies, a basket, ate lunch, bid on the silent auction or simply stopped in, we are grateful. Your support means everything to the Miguel Duran family and to the committee.  Through your generosity more than $20,000 was raised in one day for the family.

The day was filled with fun events for the kids, music, food, refreshments, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, silent auction and basket raffles.  More than 100 Silent Auction items and 120 baskets were donated.  Everything was donated and 100 percent of the day went directly to the family.

Special thanks to Chairperson Donna Weiss and her family for organizing the event. It is what happens behind the scenes with the organizing that often goes unnoticed.  This was the biggest party Miguel has ever had and we are forever grateful.

Thanks for sharing your day and many blessings for making a difference.

I was so happy to be part of this special day for a special boy that has captured the hearts of many – including mine. Please continue to keep Miguel in your thoughts and prayers.
