Winter activities planned for Coloma in February

On Saturday, Feb. 2, the silent sport enthusiasts will have a chance to try out the cross country, snowshoe trails in the Coloma Community Park maintained by the Coloma Pathfinders Snowmobile Club. This event has been cancelled twice in the past due to warm weather, so it is being billed as the third 1st Annual Ride & Glide. There will be a cross country ski race in the morning at 10 a.m., a children’s race at noon, and a fat tire bike race at 1:30 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and participants will get an unlimited bowl of chili in the heated shelter. There is a registration costs. The money raised will be used to support the silent sport trails, which are groomed weekly by the snowmobile club.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, everyone will be out on Pleasant Lake for the Coloma Lions Fisheree and the Coloma Pathfinders Radar Run. There will be a heated tent with food and drink, fishing prizes, and trophies for numerous classes of snowmobiles. Fishermen need to purchase a book of raffle tickets to enter fish for prizes and snowmobilers will pay a fee for three runs on the track. The Lions Club Fisheree event is from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and the Radar Run is 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
